If you want to host a wedding, event or birthday party, you can hire a professional photographer. Since wedding photographers are not required to be licensed or abide by any regulations, there is no guarantee that they will meet your expectations. So, we’re going to share some tips to help you hire the best photographer for your needs.
Here are 7 tips for choosing your wedding photographer
1. CHECK HIS WEBSITE
To make sure that the style of the photographer matches your needs go to his website. For some it may seem obvious but not for everyone. Ask to see at least one report in its entirety to judge the homogeneity of the photographer’s work. Do not assume that because a photographer claims to be professional, he is necessarily good.
Don’t write to 60 photographers, but rather list a small number of your favorites and contact them. Send them a complete email with all the important information: date, number of guests, desired service…
2. THE RIGHT PRICE FOR A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Do not rely on an attractive price. A photographer who works for £500 a day can arouse your suspicions, I know few people who work at such low hourly rates. Remember that a photographer pays expenses and taxes and that therefore a large part of this sum will be returned to the state and/or invested in equipment.
If you don’t have the budget, don’t fall back on just anyone. In this case, keep your money and give yourself a nice day after with the photographer of your dreams.
3. THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S ADVICE
The price of the photographer includes of course the shooting, the post treatment but also the whole part that I call «accompaniment»: advice, listening, and little tips that only a good photographer can give you.
4. WEDDING STYLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Consider that everything that is fashionable or on blogs does not necessarily fit you. The Moody photo trend has been very trendy in recent seasons, but do you really want to have dark wedding photos? If you don’t like it at the base don’t force yourself for your marriage.
5. CHOOSE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER WITH WORD OF MOUTH
Rely on word of mouth, which is very often what works best, just as much as a good family doctor.
6. A PRE-WEDDING MEETING TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE FEELING
Meet the photographer or if you live far away skype him. This meeting will allow you to determine if you like this person professionally and humanly (remember that the photographer will be there ALL day with YOU). Conversely, do not forget that a photographer works for humans. If we treat him like an ordinary provider, he’ll work like an ordinary marriage. The best images obtained by your favorite photographers are often thanks to the trust established between him/her and their clients.
Ask the photographer your questions. For example, if you are interested in group photos and the photographer does not present any or a few of them on his site, ask him why. In short, if your photographer meets you it is because he wants to discuss with you so ask him.
7. THE CONTRACT IS MANDATORY
Demand a contract that will cover you in case of cancellation, unfortunately, it happens that some photographers cancel at the last moment for the lure of gain (proposal for a better contract on the same date).
